Your FTC Disclosure Obligations
Read this carefully. It is the law, not optional.
If you promote StatusForge through any channel where you receive payment from us — that is, anywhere you use your referral link — the U.S. Federal Trade Commission requires you to clearly and conspicuously disclose your “material connection” with StatusForge in every post, video, story, or message that promotes the service. This is required by 16 CFR Part 255 and the FTC’s 2023 Endorsement Guides.
What counts as a clear disclosure:
- “#ad”, “#sponsored”, or “#paidpartnership” placed at the start of the caption (not buried after a “more” click).
- Explicit text like “I earn a commission if you sign up through my link” in the body of a video, post, or stream.
- For TikTok / Instagram Reels: a verbal disclosure in the first 3 seconds AND a text overlay.
- For email or DMs: an explicit statement that you receive a commission, in the same message as the link.
What does NOT count as a disclosure:
- A vague tag like “#partner” or “#collab” without context.
- A disclosure buried in a profile bio or pinned comment.
- Tagging StatusForge without saying anything about the commission.
- Disclosure only in your second video about us.
StatusForge will not pay commissions on any sale that originated from a promotion where you failed to disclose your relationship with us. This is to protect you and us from FTC enforcement and to keep the creator program honest. We will help you write a disclosure if you ask — email [email protected].
Fair Partnership Terms
Payouts: Commissions paid within 30 days of month-end via your chosen method.
Transparency: Real-time earnings visible on your dashboard. Every referral tracked.
Disputes: If a commission is withheld, we provide the specific reason in writing within 7 days. You can dispute via [email protected] and we will review and respond within 14 days.
Rate protection: Your commission rate never decreases. If we change rates, it only affects new signups.
No obligations: Promote when you want, how you want. No quotas, no minimums, no exclusivity.
How it works: You earn 50% of the first payment when someone you referred goes Pro. Monthly subscribers: $6 on their first month. Annual subscribers: $49.50. Commissions are one-time per referral.
Tax responsibility: Commission payments are taxable income. If you earn $600 or more in a calendar year, we are required to issue a 1099-MISC. You are responsible for reporting all earnings to the appropriate tax authorities regardless of the amount. Consult a tax professional for guidance specific to your situation.
